Judges' Comments:
Peter Forrestal
Dense, deep, rich and concentrated plummy characters. A nice
fleshiness and velvety, moderate tannins. The oxtail accentuated the
fruit and gave the finish a lovely velvety quality.
Stephen Harris
Rich, ripe currants and raspberry spectrum. Lovely, powerful,
concentrated palate. Good weight and very ripe, powerful, concentrated
fruit. The tannin structure was also ripe with nice, grippy, chewy
tannins. A good match with lashings of berry fruit cutting through the
oily ox tongue. Then after some length and persistence of flavour,
some beautiful, grainy tannin appear.
Ken Dobler
Dark crimson colour. The nose showing perfume and violets. The palate
shows a rich, intense, ripe blackberry fruit with a good tannic line.
This fruit was accentuated by the food. The wine improved
significantly.
Patrick Farrell
Cassis, berry, spicy, oak aromas and flavours. The wine is still tight
yet with a good core of fruit.

This is a really good drink for 10 bucks. It’d be a really good drink
for 15 or 20. It’s chockers with hearty warm chocolate and prune, like
a Haig’s liqueur, and it’s velvety and smooth and makes me feel good.
It’s a smart piece of blending, and has an atmosphere that reminds me
of drinks had a long time ago.

Now this is a seriously innovative piece of blending. Chocolaty and
lip smackingly smart in all areas. I know you can spend $20-30 a
bottle getting a sophisticated blend as good as this with a big name
on the front, but settle down and wrap your lips around this beauty.
Cellar Reserve obviously applies to the fruit parcel selection & is
right on the money. Jam packed with booming red berries, this has a
palate which is soft yet elegantly supple and stoic. The Cabernet is
as structurally important to the mix by providing some wonderful grip
amongst the mix and adds a backbone to the ripe Shiraz.
